General
one: This is a literate to advanced site, if you can’t post more than 300 words, then this isn’t the place for you.
two: Respect is one of the most important things; you must be kind to everyone and never ignore a guest. If you don’t follow the rules, you will get warnings, which can lead up to bans.
three: Be active. Activity is one of the main things that keeps a site going, and if you don’t log on at least every week, you’ll be deleted without question.
four: There will be very little chat-speak. Don’t be lazy. Omg, lol, lmao, and simple stuff like that are fine, as long as you keep it in the chat box. Just don’t overdo it. No chat speak is allowed in in-character posts.
five: Mini-modding is an absolute no. Mini-modding is essentially a member enforcing the rules towards other members like they are one of the site's staff members. We do not condone this at all. If you see a member breaking the rules, please contact a staff member and we'll handle the matter privately.
six: One account per person. If you feel like it's necessary to have more than one account or a separate account for all of your characters, then you should move on and find yourself somewhere else to role play.
seven: This is a mature site. If you can’t handle descriptive fighting, breeding or intense swearing, then you just can’t be here. In addition to this, we expect maturity from every member. We see role playing as a way to escape from drama in real life, so there will be no drama or immaturity allowed out-of-character on MN. If you have an issue with someone, handle it maturely in private or speak to a staff member. Members who act immature or create conflict in the chat box will be warned and then banned. We want to keep MN a happy community so please, everyone, help us ensure it will remain that way by acting mature.
eight: Third person and first person are both allowed. How you choose to role play your characters is completely up to you, but make sure it's in a way that everyone can easily understand.
nine: If you are a graphics artist and choose to open up a graphics shop, you may not charge silver for your services. It's a hassle for the staff and you should be making graphics because you enjoy doing it, not because you are looking to make a quick profit.
Accounts
one: When creating an account on the site, please make a respectable name. No one will take you seriously if you name yourself "puppylover365", and it just looks messy when bringing up a member search. Please try not to include excessive or unnecessary characters in your display name, that way the member list is updated correctly alphabetically.
two: Do not name your account after a character of your own or have the same name as someone else's character on the site. Your alias should be yours only and not cause any confusion.
three: Please do not create a username that implies drug use, sex, or anything inappropriate that may be offensive to some members. Although we are a mature site, we'd rather have that be reflected in character rather than in display names or profiles that others view on a daily basis.
four: When creating a signature for your account, we ask that it does not stretch the board in any manner. It should not exceed 500px in width and height. If it does stretch the board, we will ask you to resize your image. If you do not comply with our request, we will remove it.
five: Avatars and signatures should not have any inappropriate images in them. It will be removed immediately and depending on how inappropriate the image is will determine the severity of the consequences. People of all ages join our site and should not be exposed to sexual content or offensive material.
Realism
one: Life as a stray is not a simple feat. Characters that were born strays, would not be well fed unless in a group.
two: Characters are more likely to survive in a pack, than not. This goes for mothers, chances are all of the pups are not going to survive if there is no other characters accompanying you.
three: We expect, as an advanced community, for our members to know how a canine would live, behave and survive on the streets.
four: Physical mutations are rare and we should only see one-two of them per every eleven characters on the site.
five: Be prepared when throwing one of your characters in a dangerous territory for realistic consequences to occur. If the territory is occupied by another group and you post in their board, they have the right to join your thread and attempt to protect their land in any way they see fit.
In Character
one: There are no maximum amount of characters you can have. We suggest not taking on more than you can handle, however, so use your judgement wisely. If you are found hoarding characters, a limit will be discussed and you will be asked not to make any others.
two: Miserere Nobis is a feral dog role play site. Although we do allow undomesticated dogs, wolves, dingos, hybrids, jackals, and coyotes. You are allowed one free undomesticated dog automatically after being active for two straight weeks, but all others must be purchased within the shop.
four: Be original; no perfect characters. Your character has to have flaws of some sort, they cannot be impervious to everything. Cookie-cutter characters are an absolute no.
five: Realistic; not every dog is a German Shepherd, Border Collie or a Doberman. There are other breeds, meaning choose something unique. If we see a surplus of any breeds, they will be added to the banned breed list to encourage a larger variety of breeds on the site. The ban will not be lifted until the numbers of other breeds have increased.
six: You may not make a character that is under the age of a year. If you would like to make a character younger than a year old then you must purchase a pass in the Shop. Also, you may not create a character that is already pregnant.
seven:Here on MN, we allow liquid time. This means that your characters are not limited to one thread a time. They can be in multiple threads simultaneously, but we ask that you don't exceed a limit of four threads at one time to keep things from becoming overwhelming.
Breeding
one: Keep the graphic descriptions moderately low, think PG13 movies. This includes fight posts or any other scenario that requires graphic descriptions. I do not want to read through a thread and have my stomach churn at the description of your posts.
two: There will be no graphic breeding on the site, when having a breeding scene you may imply it or utilize the fade-to-black method or just skip the encounter entirely.
three: Force breeding is allowed, just make sure you have permission from the other person before proceeding. Anyone that is found doing this without the second party's permission will be subject to disciplinary action as this is labelled as god-modding.
four: Mating and birthing is allowed all year around on the site. In order to conceive puppies, you must have two complete threads between your characters before you can post up your form in The Stork board. You will be given a due date and if a birthing thread is not posted on that due date, your litter will be miscarried. You may buy 'get out of breeding' and 'get out of birthing' passes in the Shop if you feel it's necessary.
five: Characters must be two years old to breed and conceive a litter. There will be no exceptions. If you are found breeding your characters under this age limit then you will be asked to remove all of the threads in which you are found doing this. If you do not comply, a temporary ban will be issued and if you still won't cooperate, you will be permanently banned from MN
Packs & Gangs
one: MN is set up in 4 in-character sections: North, West, East, and South. Only one gang per section will be allowed. So the most gangs there can be on the site are 4. That may change if we add another section or if it has something to do with a site wide plot.
two: In order to join a pack, you must read up on their purpose and general information to make sure your character is a proper fit for that particular pack's lifestyle.
three: If you apply to join a pack, that does not mean you are automatically a member. Some packs require initiation ceremonies, while other packs have different requirements. Please, make sure to be well-versed with that gang's joining process before applying.
four:Members of the pack may overthrow the ruler if they do not feel their needs are being met. To have the ability to attempt to overthrow the ruler you need to have over five other other members aboard (not roleplayed by you). Once you apply to overthrow your ruler the one with leadership is granted a week time to either obtain other members to stand with them. The side with the larger amount of dogs comes out victories but do remember to pick what is best for your dogs.
five:Blood relatives may challenge for leadership within the pack through a fighting thread, they only obtain one chance to challenge the one with leadership so choose your battle carefully.
six:Other dogs within' the pack have a choice to defend the one with leadership if a blood relative chooses to challenge just like they have a choice to stand with the leader if other members try to overthrow the kingdom.
seven: While it is possible to challenge a leader, you must be approved by a staff member prior to challenging. This is to ensure that a gang does not go to an inactive role player. Each user will be allowed three posts - two to attack, and one to dodge or retaliate.
eight: For every three characters that you have, your fourth must be a gang or pack member. This rule is to ensure both gang and pack activity and not have the streets over running with loners.
nine: All boards are up for grabs in-character. However, we don't recommend that you have your character enter pack lands, especially if the pack is not known to be kind. Trespassing on gang lands can often times lead to a fight where your character is not likely to leave with a victory. There are boards that are unclaimable that way loners have somewhere to role play where they won't be on pack territory and the staff won't have to constantly update the forum because new boards are being suggested.
ten: During a leadership challenge, if one person does not respond in a week's time, they automatically forfeit the fight to the other person. No exceptions.
eleven: Packs and gangs are not allowed to interrupt private threads, even if the thread is on their territory. Private threads are labelled private for a reason. However, we are realistic, and two characters intermingling amongst gang lands would not go unnoticed. While the thread may not be interrupted, the leaders or other higher-ranking canines within the pack or gang that you are intruding upon may post a mandatory thread in which you must participate to have your character dealt with for trespassing. If you do not post within a week in that thread, the pack may intrude on your private one.
Pack/Gang Leaders
one: Gang and pack leaders are expected to be active - far more active than any other character on the site. If we see that a gang or pack leader is not active then you will receive one warning and if that warning is not heeded, you will lose your position. If you are not active, you will lose the gang and it will be auditioned off to a member that will keep it active.
two: In addition to rule one, if the overall gang falls into inactivity, the Gang Leader will have one chance to make it active once again over a 2 week period. If no progress is shown, the Gang will go up for audition.
three: Leaders can be challenged 4 times a year (That is one challenge allowed for every season). After each challenge, the gang leader is permitted a two week immunity. After the immunity is up, they can be challenged once again. If you challenge during this immunity, your character will automatically lose.
four: Leaders are allowed to make their own laws for their gangs, initiation ceremonies, etc. Leaders have complete creative freedom with their gangs as long as it does not break any rules.
five: Pack leaders can choose up to an entire category to be their territory, so long as the pack is large enough and they actively defend it.
six: There is no gender discrimination when it comes to who can lead a gang. The leader may be male or female. However, your character must be two years old to challenge and lead a gang.
seven: If the gang leader posts up an absence post in the absence board, the second-in-command will step up as leader regardless of how long the original leader is gone for. If a gang leader disappears out of the blue and does not post in a 2 week span, the gang will be given to the second-in-command. If the second does not want the gang, it will go up for audition. If the pack does not have a second-in-command, the pack will automatically go up for audition.
Graphics
one: No pornographic or offensive images. If you are found using any pictures that are too graphic for our eyes, we will remove them and you will be immediately banned.
two: Do not stretch the board. If your image stretches the board, we will give you one warning to fix it, and if our warning is not heeded, it will be removed. If you continue to stretch the board with images you will be asked not to use any pictures at all, and if you still don't obey then your account will be banned.
three: Don't steal others work and claim it as your own. If you're found doing this you will immediately be permanently banned from MN and you will not be able to role play with us again.
four: The use of copyrighted images is absolutely prohibited unless you have permission from the original photographer. If you have permission, you must screenshot proof of it and send it to one of the admins. Too many sites get shut down for copy right issues and MN will not be one of them.
Bullying
one: Any acts of bullying will not be tolerated on MN. We have a zero tolerance policy against it and if you are found bullying other members, you will be permanently banned. Respect those that visit us and those that reside here as members, including the staff and the decisions made by everyone. We consider harassing other members, insulting other members, blatantly ignoring a member, or doing anything to hurt another member's feelings as bullying.
two: If you believe you are being bullied, we will not take action on only the 'he-said', 'she-said' situations. You must provide the staff with some sort of proof. From there, we will evaluate the evidence and deliberate.
